Although the Indianapolis Colts are 2-1 on the young NFL season, beneath the surface, things aren’t going so well for them.

The team announced quarterback Anthony Richardson will return to practice, but he remains in concussion protocol, and there is the whole matter of the continuing Jonathan Taylor saga.

The star running back demanded a trade after the team refused to give him the big contract extension he wanted, and he hasn’t played yet this season.

Per Dan Graziano, via Dov Kleiman, nothing has changed in this saga, and while Taylor will have to miss one more game, Graziano said his first game of 2023 could come with another team, implying a trade could go down soon.

Taylor is one of the game’s very best running backs, and as recently as 2021, he led the NFL with 1,811 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns.

At age 24, mileage isn’t exactly a concern for him, and he should have at least five good years left in him if he avoids major injury.

He was limited to 11 games last season due to ankle injuries, but he is apparently healthy now.

Taylor’s saga is the latest example of how the running back market in the NFL has cratered and how teams are undervaluing and even disrespecting such players, even those as supremely gifted as Taylor.

A number of teams have reportedly been interested in him, including the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns, however, both teams are doing just fine, so their urgency to trade for him may have lessened over the past week or two.
